If there was any truth to them targeting a goalie with that pick, then I like this... A lot.

They're getting someone with a resume instead of a gamble and it's essentially costing them a 2nd.

It's a fair deal. He still needs to be signed (RFA), and Anaheim didn't have the budget. He would be UFA after next year, so he'll probably command north of 4mil/year. He's a great kid to build around. Doesn't get rattled. You'll love the guy.

Maple Leaf fans will love Andersen. He's a fierce competitor and the other players on the Ducks liked playing with him. In addition, the fact that he never complained about sharing the net with Gibson... Sure hope the Ducks traded the right goalie. We'll miss you Freddie.

I was planning on the Flames trading for any of those 3 for a 3rd round pick, seeing that we had immense leverage with the upcoming expansion draft and salary cap issues.

Always a gamble to take a back up goalie from a NHL leading team like that. Seems awfully similar to Bernier. They have amazing stats with one of the best teams int he NHL in front of them but when you put them on a diff team it is a different goalie.

You know I was thinking a first this year and a second next year was a little much considering everyone knew he had to be moved but I didn't consider they were likely to use either the 30th or 31st pick on a goalie so looking at it that way I guess it is pretty good.

30th pick in 2016 and 2nd rounder in 2017. Bye bye Bernier!
